Love is patient

1 Corinthians 13: 4 defines love perfectly. Love is patient.

Patience, they say, is a virtue. We now live in a world where many things are fast paced. We have short cuts, short forms and short messages too. We also have a lot of products that give us instant gratification and satisfaction for our needs and wants. Most of us find it hard to be patient and it seems like an alien concept to some of us. When you are patient with your family, friend, spouse or partner, you are showing them how much they mean to you. In other words, you are respecting them. Respect inspires love and love inspires respect.

“The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by 🐣 hatching the egg, not by smashing it.”

~ Arnold H. Glasow

What can I say to add to this? It is true because there is certainly a bit of waiting to do when you are learning patience.

I know a little bit about waiting. I waited 41 years before I actually found and experienced true love. Everytime I prayed about it, I was reminded gently by my heavenly Father to wait patiently.

Being in love truly means to be patient and loving like God our Father. We must be forbearing even if our spouse or friend is impatient and angry. In my view Rachel’s 41 year wait for love is a beautiful story about patience. It’s a journey she couldn’t have travelled alone without her heavenly Father’s love. ~ John

Here is my favourite Holy Bible reference …

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. ~ Romans 8:25

Is it hard to be patient? Yes, absolutely! But trust God. He is in control. Wait patiently!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for loving me and watching over me. Help me surrender to you. Your word says in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that there is a time for everthing. Waiting is hard, Lord, so please help me to be patient and trust in your timing and your plan for me and my life. Amen

Thoughts to reflect on:

Have you been waiting for something to happen in your life?

Have you been praying for something and it hasn’t happened and you are wondering if God hears you?

Look back and write down things that have happened and you will see how God moves in his time and everything happens in His will.
